I backed up my NAND a few years ago using homebrew software and have now restored it to Dolphin. This includes the operating system, Wii channels, saves, WiiWare games. The Dolphin emulator can import a 'NAND' from a real Wii, which is a perfect copy of all data on a console. I backed up all my Wii and GameCube games a few years ago using homebrew software on the Wii. This is how I hope to run (and store) all my consoles once they're past their peak.
Emulating games are nice, but I want emulation to include the whole damn show. This is why you need to let go of your physical products instead of relying on them. This is my ideal end goal for my old consoles.
